The Short Version
Directarr is a local-first app. Your server credentials, settings, and media library data never leave your device. We collect minimal data only when you actively use optional features like feedback or push notifications, and we never sell or share your data with advertisers.
Data We Do Not Collect
During normal use of the app, we collect no data. There are no analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, and no crash reporting. Your server configurations, API keys, passwords, and cached media library data are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us.
Feedback Submissions
If you choose to submit feedback through the app, we receive:
- Your feedback message
- An anonymous device ID (a randomly generated identifier, not linked to your identity)
- Device information: device model, manufacturer, operating system version, app version, and build number
- An optional screenshot of the app (only if you choose to attach one)
- Your email address (only if you choose to provide it for follow-up)
This data is submitted to our feedback service and is used solely to diagnose issues and improve the app. We do not use it for marketing or share it with third parties.
Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we register your device with our relay server to deliver notifications. We store:
- An anonymous user hash (a randomly generated identifier)
- Your device's push notification token (provided by Apple or Google)
- Your device platform (iOS or Android)
This data is stored on our relay server and used only to deliver notifications you have configured. It is not linked to your identity. You can disable notifications at any time in the app settings, which unregisters your device.
Push notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a service provided by Google. Device tokens pass through Google's infrastructure as part of this delivery. Google's privacy policy applies to this service.
Your Media Servers
When you connect to services like Radarr, Sonarr, Plex, Jellyfin, or others, those connections go directly from your device to your servers. We don't see, proxy, or intercept any of that communication. Your server URLs, API keys, and credentials are stored encrypted on your device only.
External Services
Directarr connects to external services to fetch metadata (such as movie and TV information) and to support optional integrations you configure. These connections go directly from your device to those services — data does not pass through Directarr's infrastructure.
Each external service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing the policies of any services you choose to connect.
Photo Library
Directarr requests access to your photo library only when you choose to attach a screenshot to a feedback submission. We do not access your photos for any other purpose.
Security
Your server URLs, API keys, and passwords are stored using secure platform storage — iOS Keychain on Apple devices and Android EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android. We recommend using HTTPS for connections to your media services.
Age Requirement
Directarr is not directed at children under 13. By using this app, you confirm you are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted feedback to us, please contact us so we can delete it.
International Users
Directarr is operated from New Zealand. If you are located in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, the limited data we collect (feedback submissions and notification tokens) is processed for the sole purpose of providing the service. We do not sell personal data. You may request deletion of any feedback you have submitted by contacting us.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide notice within the app where reasonably possible.
